FAQ

  • What is the Therapeutic Reasoning for Athletic Performance & Recovery course about?

The course was created to teach you, the therapist, how to think, not apply a sequence of pre-thought movements. It is to empower you to think on your feet, develop short and long-term treatment plans, and work confidently in one of the most challenging settings: athletics. We look at the importance of movement for every sport and how to apply our skills to each individual athlete.

  • What will students learn in this course?

Students will learn about the importance of understanding movement in the practice of sports massage. They will learn to observe movements in different sports and use anatomical knowledge to develop treatment strategies based on these observations. They will learn about the most common sports injuries massage therapists will encounter in the field of sports massage and how and when to help. And most importantly, students will develop critical thinking skills that will enable them to more efficiently apply the skills they already possess!

  • What can students expect on the day of the course?

This course will consist of two parts during the course of 8 hours. The first part of the day is an interactive lecture discussing the importance of observational skills when assessing your athlete (IE. watching the athlete squat, run and watching for imbalances in those movements). We'll watch sport film to highlight and discuss the importance of movement observation! Common injuries will also be watched and discussed. The second part of the course will be a group case study, where students will develop treatment plans, using the skills you already know with the addition of more detailed observational skills, for specific athlete needs.

  • What more can students expect from PhysWiz?

You will not only have a strengthened confidence to Think Beyond the Table, but you will also become part of the PhysWiz professional network. Giving Sports Medicine teams and individual athletes around the United States (and eventually the World!) access to the top therapists that truly understand the importance of movement and assessment protocols for their athletes.

Stephanie Newton

Having a lifelong fascination for the human body and mind has fueled Stephanie's career in manual therapy and continues to inspire her to heal. Officially opening her practice, Celsus Integrative Therapy, in 2019 in Tampa, Florida, after 10 years as an LMT in various settings, she continues to expand her skill range in any way that is needed.
